My second book nook has been completed. I've now done a music based room and a Hemingway based room (not a fan of Hemingway but, it's very pretty). What I really want to do next is one based on an Anime street scene which is the kind of book nook I've been dropping hints about ever since I realised I wanted to do one, but Mum and dad get the ones they think I would like and that basically means the one they like the most; The ones where there's lots of wood fitting and stuff where as my tastes are a good deal more tacky. I may have to get one myself, but I have Lego to complete and I suspect by the time my craft desk is clear it will be too close to Christmas to be buying myself presents. If I don't get one for Christmas I may treat myself.

Last Sunday was Stockport Pride. Me and [personal profile] cosmolinguist went along, partly so I could be Extremely Petty. I'd gotten into an argument on Reddit in a conversation about a far-right web cartoonist getting doxxed. Somebody had claimed that doxxing is legal in the UK. I replied saying that I was happy this particular person got doxxed, and I don't think that legality and morality are inherently correlated, but actually no it wasn't legal. This led to a very heated argument wherein my interlocutor accused me of being a far-right sympathiser and transphobe, at which point I said that I wasn't going to continue to debate because I was off to Pride with my trans boyfriend. I then got accused of being an obvious sockpuppet making things up. So I made a little paper sign and took this photo there.

D and E kissing at Stockport Pride

A little while later that person's comments had all been deleted, either by themselves or a moderator. I claim this as a petty victory!

Anyway apart from that Stockport Pride was a good day out. We failed to meet up with a former coworker of mine, but ran into many people from Trans Gym, and some friends from Queer Club, and got chatting to somebody who turned out to be a friend of a friend... small world. We poked around the stalls and bought some goth / queer crossover tat for [personal profile] mother_bones. I got to listen to Bad Heritage, a local guitar-based heavy rock band playing a Pride festival. They sounded like L7 fronting Black Sabbath, and that was a very good thing. Eventually we sat outside the Angel pub drinking pints and listening to Sister Mary McArthur, a tap-dancing singing drag nun, doing show tunes. Who needs expensive corporate Prides when you have that, eh?

We checked out another few pubs and were introduced to The Produce Hall, which has about half a dozen different kitchens and a common ordering / payment system. I had some amazing Carribean chicken stew, and E had a great pizza. It's technically indoors but the ceilings are high enough that the CO2 levels were pretty much the same as being outdoors. Around 9pm, we left the young 'uns to it and headed home, thoroughly satisfied with our day.

Main computer now in for repair. It's quite a busy place and I don't exspect to hear from them till about thursday. Spent some of the rainy afternoon working on the song Trick of the light. It's another one where I think all the instrunmental is done and I'm just waiting for the worst of the hayfeaver to be over so I can sing properly again.
I'm getting Final Fantacy withdrawal. It was a nice game I could do at my own pacew with lots of nice slow bits between such battles as requiered a bit of energy. Things Like Street fighter are fine but you can only go so long before you need a rest. I'm out of the habbit of watching TV. After an hour I feel like I should be doing something. Most art things right now are waiting for my PC to be back and I don't want to do any more music stuff tonight.

A Bit Of A rough Weekend

This mostly comes down to pollen count and for the sake of hayfeaver sufferers I will also add pollen type. It's been really bad round here. Even some people who don't normally suffer have been suffering hayfeaver style symptoms and those of us who normally sufer a bit have been knocked for six. At this point I really want non-sufferers to understand what we are talking about here. People think Hayfeaver is just a runny nose and itchy eyes because that's the words the adverts use because if you want to sell things you keep things "nice". Hayfeaver when it really kicks off is not "nice". It may start with a little sniffle and itchy eyes but soon your eyes are swelling and you can't see out of one or both eyes and there is pain that comes with this. Not itching, actual pain. And then there is the constant fllow of snot. Breathing becomes hard and because you are enevitably swallowing some of it your digestion is a mess too. and ultimatly your head starts to feel it. I think "Flu like symptoms" is probably a good exsplaination but without the high tempriture because the one thing you don't get with hayfeaver is a feaver (Unless it turns out somebody dose and I just didn't know that one, it wouldn't supprise me).
Anyway that's how I was all friday afternoon having spent the morning working outside so I spent Saturday inside with my window closed. It was a warm day. My room is south faceing. My room got rather warm. My head wasn't really in a place for doing the art work I have planned to so I spent the afternoon playing Final Fantacy XIV which is moderately processor heavy so my PC was pumping out a bit of heat it's self. So bedtinme came and I'd shut down FF and just had Radio 4 playing off of BBC sounds. I popped downstairs to grab a bedtime drink and when I came back up the PC was Off. The screen was still on but the PC was very off. I mean really off. Normally when I shut it down there are a couple of lights deep inside that stay on. My box was totally dark and devoid of life. So I'm guessing it's th power supply that's blowen. The local PC repeair shop isn't open Sundays so nothing I could do.
It doesn't stop me making music as I have a laptop for that and comunications I can do via my phone (as you can see) but artwork uses my PC once I have done the basic refferences and all my refrences are on there so that sid eof things is off until it's fixed. (I hope it's fixable I can't afford a new one right now).
Also yeasterday I had to go out to help put up signes for the village "Meadowlark" in a couple of weeks. Strait in to a killer pollen count and it took me out for the rest of the morning.
I spent the afternoon working on my cover of David Bowie's Diamond Dogs It's all done now baring the vocal line, but I can't put that down beause the Hayfeaver has my voice screwed right now.
